Estaraht’s Privacy Policy

When you use Estaraht, you are trusting us to take care of some pretty important information about you and your mental health. We realize that handling such sensitive information is a big responsibility — one that necessitates ironclad security. This is why we believe that user privacy is not an added feature, but a fundamental right, which is why we are committed to protecting your privacy.

Who we are

Estaraht is an online mental health platform that pairs people who need psychological support with the trained specialists that can provide that for them. Our goal isn’t just to make mental health more accessible, but to do it in a secure and confidential way that builds trust.

The data we collect

We collect information about you in two different ways.

1. Automatically

When you use our app (and any other app in the world), some electronic network activity information gets collected automatically.

    • Your device information, such as device type, operating system version, network service provider, and IP address
    • Your country to customize the language and content according to your region
    • Your activity on our app, including the choices you make under settings, the services you use, and how frequently you use them

2. Voluntarily

This is information that you give us.

    • A first name or a pseudonym (optional)
    • Your email address, provided to us when you register or book a session
    • Your psychological preferences within the app
    • Your mental health self-assessment test results (if you choose to save them)
    • Details about any sessions you book, such as the date, duration, and type of service you’re looking for

The data we NEVER collect

There are some details about you that we will never store.

    • Your ID number, postal address, and phone number
-Please note that we may need to collect the above-mentioned details about you in some cases.
    • Your payment details, such as your card number, pin number, or bank account information

Here’s how we use your data

    • To provide psychological services within the app, through chats, sessions, and self-assessment tests
    • To tailor your in-app experience based on your tastes and preferences
    • To continually improve the app’s performance and design
    • To send you updates about new features, technical support issues, or bug fixes
    • To send a weekly mental health newsletter right to your inbox (only if you opt-in)

Your data is in safe hands

Remember how we said we will protect all your sensitive data? Here’s how we do it.

    • A virtual pseudonym is used for you during your chat, audio, or video sessions.
    • All your chats within the app are end-to-end encrypted, which means nobody — except you and your mental health specialist — can access the content, not even us.
    • None of your sessions are recorded or stored on any external servers.
    • We vet all the mental health professionals who work with us, and bind them to a legal and ethical confidentiality agreement.

Encryption and security

    • All data transfers within the app are protected by the SSL protocol. This encrypts the data that you send from your internet to our browser, making sure that no third party can intercept it.
    • We store sensitive data, such as your session notes, only with your consent.
    • The data that we do collect from you can only be accessed by authorized personnel from the technical and/or medical team

Cookies and behavior tracking

We sometimes use analytical tools, such as Google Analytics, to track your behavior within the app and use this data to improve the app’s performance. We promise that this information is never linked to your personal identity.

Sharing your data with third parties

We never share, rent, or sell any of your personal data to third parties. This means the information you enter within the app will not leave its confines.

The only two exceptions to this rule are:

    1. When you give us explicit, written permission to share your data
    2. When we are bound by a legal obligation to share certain data to a government entity

How long we store your data

    • All session data is stored for a maximum of 12 months, after which it will be automatically deleted
    • All unsaved data from the mental health self-assessments will  be automatically deleted after 90 days
    • If you delete your account, your account info, such as your email ID and pseudonym, will be deleted within 30 days

The rights you enjoy as a user

    • The right to access the data we store about you
    • The right to request us to modify or delete your data
    • The right to withdraw your consent for letting us process your data
    • The right to unsubscribe from notifications or our mental health newsletter

We might update our privacy policy in the future

If we do so, you will receive an email from us. We will also notify you about the changes within the app. You can also check the date at the top of this page to see when it was last modified.

If you continue using Estaraht, even after a privacy policy update, it implies your consent to the updated version

Limitations of liability

    • None of Estaraht’s mental health self-assessment tests are meant to work as formal diagnostic tools.
    • The sessions you have with specialists on the app are NOT meant to replace emergency medical intervention or specialized psychiatric treatment that you would receive in a hospital.

By using the Estaraht app, you acknowledge that you have read these terms and conditions and that you agree with them. If you have any further questions about your data or privacy, reach out to us at customercare@estaraht.app.
